Brachioplasty (arm lift) is a cosmetic procedure that improves the appearance of your upper arms. Dr. Elnekaveh removes excess fat and skin between your elbow and armpit and tightens the remaining tissue to give your arms a slimmer, leaner look.
Some of the many benefits you can expect with brachioplasty include arms that are:
Brachioplasty procedures can remove stubborn pockets of fat and excess skin that may linger despite eating nutritious foods and getting regular exercise.
To find out if brachioplasty is the right procedure for you, Dr. Elnekaveh discusses your medical history, lifestyle, and desired outcome. He completes a physical exam, evaluates your arms, and lets you know what to expect during the procedure before personalizing a treatment that’s best for you.
To get ready for brachioplasty, follow all of your pre-surgery instructions. You might complete lab work or stop taking certain medications prior to surgery. Don’t smoke, and arrange for someone to drive you home after the procedure and stay with you overnight. Avoid foods and drinks the morning of the scheduled surgery if Dr. Elnekaveh asks you to.
Dr. Elnekaveh may give you local anesthesia with sedation to relax you or general anesthesia to make you fall asleep. Either way, you won’t feel any pain during surgery.
Dr. Elnekaveh begins the procedure by making incisions in your upper arms. He removes and tightens tissue or uses liposuction in some cases before closing the incisions, bandaging your arms, and taking you to a recovery area. Dr. Elnekaveh could place temporary tiny tubes in your arms to drain excess fluid or blood.
After a brachioplasty procedure, follow all of your post-care instructions. Have someone drive you home, take medications as directed, and leave bandages in place until Dr. Elnekaveh says it’s okay to remove them. You might wear a compression sleeve for a few weeks. The treatment area will be swollen and bruised during the healing process.
Avoid lifting your arms above your shoulders for several weeks or participating in strenuous exercise until Dr. Elnekaveh says it’s okay. Apply topical medicine to the area if they ask you to, and attend all follow-up visits. Over time, as your arms heal and the swelling goes down, your arms will be slimmer, tighter, and more toned.
