3 Types of Breast Augmentation

Today's breast augmentation options go beyond simply choosing an implant. Learn how silicone implants, saline implants, and fat grafting differ and how to decide which option might be best for you.

If you’ve decided on breast augmentation to enhance your shape and confidence, your decision doesn’t end there. Advancements in breast augmentation have created more options than ever, with several techniques available to help you achieve your desired look.

Read on to learn more about the types offered here at Dr. Brandon Plastic Surgery. Understanding your options allows you to choose an approach that fits your body, goals, and lifestyle.

We can help guide you, whether you're looking for a subtle enhancement, restored volume after pregnancy, or improved symmetry.

Silicone breast implants

Patients often choose silicone implants for their natural look and feel. They’re made from a cohesive silicone gel, which closely mimics the characteristics of natural breast tissue and are available in a variety of shapes, sizes, and profiles.

Our surgeon, Dr. Brandon Elnekaveh, often recommends them for women with less existing breast tissue who want a fuller appearance. They provide a soft, natural-looking result with excellent long-term durability.

Saline breast implants

Saline implants offer predictable results and can be adjusted slightly during surgery to enhance symmetry. They’re crafted of a silicone outer shell that’s filled with sterile saltwater after they’re placed. Because they’re inserted empty and filled during surgery, they may require a smaller incision than pre-filled silicone implants.

Some women prefer saline implants because, in the rare event of a rupture, the sterile saline solution is safely absorbed by the body.

Fat grafting breast augmentation

If you’re interested in a modest increase in your breast size but aren’t sure about implants, fat grafting may be an excellent option. Dr. Brandon uses liposuction to remove fat from another area of the body—such as the abdomen, flanks, or thighs–and transfers the purified fat into the breast.

Fat grafting creates a subtle, natural enhancement with the added benefit of contouring the donor area. Choose fat grafting if you’re after a one-cup-size increase, improved breast symmetry, or restoration of volume lost with aging, pregnancy, or weight loss.

The right option for you

The best type of breast augmentation depends on your anatomy, desired size, lifestyle, and aesthetic goals. During your consultation, Dr. Brandon evaluates your proportions, discusses your expectations, and explains the advantages and limitations of each option.

Our goal here at Dr. Brandon Plastic Surgery is to help you achieve beautiful, balanced results that complement your body and help you feel confident. We can help you decide which breast augmentation is right for you.
